GKD and KnitMesh combine wire expertise

GKD, the German market leader for technical mesh solutions, and KnitMesh Technologies, the British specialist for knitted wire mesh, have entered into a forward-looking strategic partnership. The collaboration aims to develop integrated high-tech solutions for the expanding hydrogen technology and mobility markets. In future, customers in Europe and the USA will benefit from a significantly expanded product portfolio and an optimized value chain.

Integrated solutions for the hydrogen industry

The advantage of the new cooperation is evident in hydrogen production, particularly in alkaline electrolysis. GKD supplies technical mesh for electrodes, while KnitMesh contributes knitted wire mesh as elastic elements. Together, they create complete solutions that also include bipolar plates and complete electrolysis cells. This combined expertise supports plant manufacturers and operators in the procurement of necessary components, among other things.

Added value for the mobility industry

The partnership also creates new prospects in the mobility sector. Both companies have been developing solutions for vehicle components for years. Now fabric elements and knitted wire meshes are being combined in a targeted manner to enable new material and functionality approaches. The product portfolios of both partners will be mutually expanded, offering suppliers and OEMs additional options.

The new partnership will make its public debut at the World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam from May 20 to 22, 2025. There, GKD and KnitMesh will present their joint solutions for the hydrogen industry. The focus will be on applications for a sustainable energy future as well as technical innovations for industrial and mobile applications.
