GKD joins the UN Global Compact: A significant step towards more sustainability and responsibility
GKD – Gebr. Kufferath AG is proud to have recently become an official member of the UN Global Compact and the associated UN Global Compact Network Germany. This decision underlines the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainable corporate management and social responsibility – values that have always guided the company.
The UN Global Compact is the world’s largest initiative for responsible corporate governance. It was launched by the United Nations in 2000 and now brings together thousands of companies worldwide. The members of the Global Compact undertake to support the ten principles in the areas of human rights, labor standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption.
What does membership of the UN Global Compact mean for GKD?
Membership of the UN Global Compact is an important building block in the further development of our sustainability measures. We are working at a global level to integrate sustainability issues into our business processes. Joining the UN Global Compact is therefore an ideal addition to our existing sustainability strategy. The ten principles of the UN Global Compact cover key topics such as:
Human rights: We are committed to protecting and upholding human rights and support respect for the rights of our employees, suppliers and partners.
Labor standards: We guarantee compliance with international labor standards and promote fair working conditions in all areas of our company.
Environmental protection: Our aim is to make our contribution to improving the environmental balance through innovative solutions and efficient production processes.
Anti-corruption: We are determined to prevent corruption and bribery in any form and to promote an ethical business environment.
By becoming a member of the UN Global Compact Network Germany, we are strengthening our commitment to the German economy and maintaining an exchange with other companies and institutions that also pursue sustainable and responsible business strategies.
An important component of our sustainability strategy
Membership of the UN Global Compact complements our corporate strategy and is a clear step towards an even more responsible future. Sustainability is not just a buzzword, but a long-term goal that we are actively promoting through concrete measures in the areas of environment, social affairs and governance (ESG). By becoming a member of the UN Global Compact, we are continuing this commitment and aligning ourselves with international standards and guidelines that help us to achieve our goals.
From 2026: Transparency through the annual progress report
Another important part of our commitment is the Communication on Progress (COP), which we will publish annually from 2026. In this report, we provide a transparent overview of the progress we are making in implementing the ten principles of the Global Compact. We want to show our stakeholders how we are taking responsibility and continuously improving in order to shape a more sustainable future.
What can we expect in the future?
Joining the UN Global Compact is not the end for us, but the beginning of a continuous process of improvement. We will continue to work closely with the network and other members to develop new, innovative ideas, overcome challenges and work together to create a better world in line with our corporate vision: “FOR A HEALTHIER, CLEANER; SAFER WORLD”.
Our sustainable initiatives will remain a central part of our corporate culture in the years to come, while we integrate the principles of the Global Compact into our business areas.
