The battery is one of the most important components in both battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). Vent valves are absolutely indispensable to compensate for the pressure and temperature fluctuations in the sealed battery cell housing, which can potentially reach high levels. These valves ensure a stable environment for the battery and protect it from external influences. Should a thermal event occur in one of the battery cells, the valve opens quickly and allows the air to escape rapidly from the battery housing.

Hot gas filters from GKD prevent particles that are released during a thermal runaway from exiting the battery system. This massively reduces the risk of the escaping gases being ignited by metallic sparks. GKD’s hot gas particle filters support compliance with the new legal requirements for OEMs with regard to BEVs and PHEVs.
