Omega 1510 / 1550 stainless steel mesh combines art and architecture in a solar protection façade at the CCLRT West Bank Station in Minneapolis
The architects from AECOM NY collaborated with American artist Nancy Blum to design a unique façade, which was then realized using GKD's Omega design mesh. The artistic design was permanently etched into the metal mesh using a special process.
In combination with large-format images created in stainless steel, migratory birds represent the coming and going of the various groups of immigrants that follow the path of the nearby Mississippi.
A multifunctional solar protection façade was created to guard the extensively glazed, two-story building against unpleasant heat in summer.
This project combines safety functionality with solar protection, aesthetic architecture and art.
