The special challenge for architecture firms Graham Downes Architecture and HCA focused on planning solar protection that would offer people protection from the particularly intense sun in Las Vegas, while also blending in with the surrounding architecture.

The ‘Tatami’ stainless steel mesh offers reliable functionality, while also providing architectural scope for individual ceiling design.

The structure of the stainless steel mesh guarantees natural ventilation by dissipating warm air to the outside which would otherwise accumulate under the roof. The alternating lighting conditions also generate an interesting, shimmering interplay of reflections on the metal mesh sails.
