Oven belts produced from glass hybrid weave for production of nonwovens

Glass hybrid fabric belts from GKD are a sustainably cost-effective solution for calibration of nonwovens in thermobonding processes. They impress with their process performance and product quality in the exacting and system-specific nonwoven bonding processes. The belt type, which is typically used as a magnetic upper belt in double-belt ovens, is now also being used increasingly often as a non-magnetic lower belt. The design, comprising glass strands and metal wires with non-stick coating, prevents material adhesion when processing ‘sticky’ products. This extends cleaning intervals and reduces downtimes, while at the same time increasing both the production speed and service life.

The high cross stability of this belt type is crucial in optimizing both the process and product quality: the single-ply design impresses with excellent running properties when processing nonwoven products with large working widths or strong shrinking forces. The magnetic strips fitted in the oven and the upper belt with its magnetic weft wires are optimally matched to one another, which ensures absolute flatness. The additional use as a lower belt supports smooth and even production of highly voluminous and heavily compressed products across the entire width. This results in nonwovens that meet the tightest tolerances in terms of both product thickness and density.

Properties

  • High degree of cross stability
  • Even mesh opening with high air permeability
  • Temperature resistant up to 250°C
  • Durable thanks to special non-stick edge coating
  • Non-marking pin seam for continuous production of nonwovens
