The hallowed turf, the “home of football”, as Wembley Stadium is reverently known: The legendary sports venue has been the scene of many memorable finals. And on June 1, the arena in the London borough of Brent will once again be the venue for an eagerly awaited duel. On this day, Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid will face each other in the final of the UEFA Champions League. But that’s not quite the end of Germany’s involvement in the final: In addition to BVB, a piece of Düren is also involved when it comes to the battle for Europe’s footballing crown. Around 1,200 square meters of the facade of Wembley, which reopened in 2007, are wrapped in TIGRIS stainless steel mesh. The architectural mesh developed by GKD – Gebr. Kufferath AG from Düren emphasizes the lightness of the construction of the iconic stadium designed by Norman Foster.
In addition to the facade, the TIGRIS stainless steel mesh from the world market leader has recently been used in two roller shutters that combine stability, security and aesthetics.
