Steel Innovation Award
14. December 2022TOP 100 Innovator
6. February 2023GKD is one of Germany’s TOP 100 innovators
The TOP 100 innovation competition has been recognizing Germany’s most innovative medium-sized companies for 30 years: This year, GKD Group is among them for the first time. For the world market leader from Düren, the seal is a nice confirmation of continuous innovation work.
Tradition, innovation and sustainability are integral parts of the DNA at GKD. For almost 100 years, the company has stood for expertise and quality in the field of high-performance meshes, filters and spirals. These are used in a wide range of applications in industry and as architectural meshes all over the world. In addition to modern production facilities, GKD has an in-house laboratory that supports and drives the development and testing of new products. GKD also cooperates with research institutes such as the Technical University of Berlin and maintains a close exchange with science and politics. For example, it is currently involved in the “Tire Abrasion in the Environment” (RAU) project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), which focuses on reducing microplastics in the environment. Innovation is thus a crucial element for GKD in implementing its guiding principle FOR A HEALTHIER, CLEANER, SAFER WORLD.
Dr. Stephan Kufferath, who manages GKD in third generation with his brother Ingo and in fourth generation with his daughter Lara, is proud of the TOP 100 Innovator award: “The seal is awarded by a top-class jury on the basis of independent test criteria and proves that the climate and processes in our company are a good basis for innovation. And last but not least, our employees show every day what innovative spirit they have in them.”
With the award, GKD is now part of a top-class network of Germany’s TOP 100 companies – an important argument also in the competition for young professionals. “We are therefore very much looking forward to the intensive exchange with the other award winners at the official award ceremony on June 23 in Augsburg,” says Dr. Kufferath.
