Size determination is a general term for all methods used to measure the dimensions of particles, pores, or openings. It includes techniques such as sieve analysis, laser diffraction, microscopy, image analysis, sedimentation, and porometry. Each method has specific applications and yields different metrics—such as the arithmetic mean, D10, D50, D90 values, or median pore size.
When selecting the appropriate sizing method, factors such as size range, particle shape, agglomeration tendency, and requirements for accuracy and throughput must be considered. In filtration and screening technology, accurate size determination of both particles and pores is essential for predicting separation efficiency.
GKD supports its customers with in-house testing laboratories where particle and pore sizes are measured. Based on this data, suitable mesh fabrics are developed. Through continuous quality control and certification, we ensure that the specified values are reliable and that users can trust the performance data of our products.
