Dirt holding capacity describes how much particle mass a filter or filter medium can retain before it needs to be cleaned or replaced. A high dirt holding capacity extends service life and reduces maintenance costs. It is influenced by the volume of the filter cake, the porosity of the fabric, and the characteristics of the particles.
