DIN standards are standardized sets of rules developed and published by the German Institute for Standardization (DIN e.V.). They define technical specifications, testing procedures, quality requirements, and safety aspects for products, processes, and services. Standards are created in working groups where experts from industry, academia, government agencies, and consumer organizations collaborate.
Although DIN standards are generally voluntary, they are widely regarded as binding benchmarks for quality and safety across many industries and are often required in contracts and tenders.
In the field of filtration and mesh fabrics, numerous DIN and international ISO standards define terminology, testing methods, and classifications. For example:
- DIN EN ISO 9044 specifies tolerances and test procedures for woven technical fabrics with square meshes.
- DIN EN ISO 12956 defines requirements for test sieve fabrics.
- DIN EN 779 and ISO 16890 classify air filter efficiency levels.
Compliance with these standards improves product comparability, enhances operational safety, and supports international trade.
GKD actively participates in standardization committees and integrates the requirements of relevant DIN standards into the development and manufacturing of its products. This ensures that filter media and mesh fabrics meet the latest standards and provide customers worldwide with consistent quality and performance.
