Agglomerates are loose clusters of particles that come together to form larger units. They are formed through physical or chemical attractive forces and can distort particle size analysis, as the apparent particle diameter appears larger than it actually is. In filtration, agglomerates can lead to faster clogging, but they can often be broken apart again through mechanical stress or flocculation.
GKD supports customers by providing guidance on sample preparation and selecting suitable mesh structures to effectively separate agglomerates.
