The European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites was given a new six-story office building at its site in Darmstadt – including a canteen with a modern design featuring a suspended metal mesh ceiling made of gold-colored aluminum mesh from GKD.
The 120 lamella-style elements of the 400-square-meter ceiling mesh create an impression of sun beams through their unobtrusive shimmer and the integrated LED lighting strips. At the same time the metal mesh contains ventilation technology and allows for a slight adjustment of the ceiling elements.
The architects from the Pielok Marquardt firm in Offenbach selected a custom version of the PC-Alu 6010 metal mesh for the ceiling design. Different warp and weft wire diameters give the mesh a particularly open structure.
