To mark the anniversary of the sister-city partnership between Jinhua and Düren, the city of Düren gifted its sister city in the Chinese province of Zhejiang a globe made from stainless steel fabric from GKD.
The approximately 2.20-meter-high globe was produced by GKD from stainless steel fabric combined with stainless steel plates representing the continents. 43 LEDs mark the connection between the two sister cities. The capitals of Beijing and Berlin are identifiable as illuminated fixed points.
The fine design of the stainless steel fabric globe required intricate work by hand from the GKD weave experts. The production of the anniversary gift for the Chinese sister city was also an expression of GKD's long-standing bond with Düren, the birthplace of the global metal weaving company.
