Spiral mesh shutters provide a high degree of transparency and effective sun protection at a private residence in Stuttgart.
External, electrically operated solar protection systems made of Licorne 13a spiral mesh protect the extensively glazed rooms on the upper floor from overheating and provide optimal shading.
The mesh elements are up to 3.80 m wide and 2.4 m tall. Besides the design, the first-class degree of energy transmission of 0.2 of the spiral mesh was the deciding factor for the architects from the Behnisch architectural firm in Stuttgart.
Thanks to the solar protection properties of the mesh roller shutters in connection with the triple glazing of the building (U = 0.7, g = 0.5, Te = 0.75), the G value is even reduced to 0.14.
