Transparent solar protection with architectural mesh lends Spanish hotel a pleasant climate in historic 17th century building.
The façade of Hotel Parador de Alcalá de Henares, located in the former Dominican monastery of Santo Tomás de Aquino, has been equipped with a transparent solar protection system. A total of 2,100 m² of GKD's Tigris stainless steel mesh was used by the architects at Aranguren + Gallegos.
The combination of a modern metal mesh solar protection façade and the original masonry lends the historic building new architectural elegance. In addition to this, the internal climate and lighting conditions have been optimized and the operating costs significantly reduced.
