Transparent media façade at the University of Copenhagen

The transparent media façade allows solar input to be reduced without compromising the outward views from within the building.

The first exterior façade for the SMD Mediamesh system has been in place at the University of Copenhagen since December 2014. Akitema Architects equipped the front of a building within the university complex with a transparent media façade made of stainless steel mesh. The woven structure of the display grants students and professors unobstructed outward views, while maintaining the same high level of natural daylight entering the building. The content of the media façade, which focuses on photorealistic presentations of nature and homeland motifs, is created by an external artist.
